India's blazing six-wicket haul and disciplined all-around effort helped them finish Day 3 of the second Test match against England at Edgbaston in a commanding lead.
Following a massive first-innings total of 587, India took a vital 244-run advantage when they knocked England out for 407 runs. India extended their lead with nine wickets remaining after reaching 64/1 by stumps.
Leading the charge with six wickets is Siraj.
Mohammed Siraj, a fast bowler, flipped the tide in India's favour with a devastating spell that finished with statistics of 6/93 and destroyed England's lower order. Even though England's middle order made a valiant effort, his aggressive bowling made it impossible for them to fully recover.
England's Comeback Is Not Enough
England persevered after being reduced to 84/5 thanks to an incredible 303-run partnership between Jamie Smith and Harry Brook. While Smith's tenacity was noteworthy, Brook recorded a skilfully constructed century. The rest of the lineup, however, broke under the strain of the broken stand.
India Prevents a Leeds-Style Collapse
India lost control after dominating the first several innings in the Leeds Test, but this time the team stayed concentrated in the field, applied pressure and held England's tail in check. In order to increase the lead, openers made sure that the bat got off to a steady start.
With the momentum solidly in their favour, India was in command at the end of Day 3. They have a good chance of winning and tying the series with two days remaining.
